"To read a book about a country's cuisine isn't simply to go looking for 'good things'; it is also to better know - by means of the recipes - the customs and the richness or poverty of a place, and the spirit of those who inhabit it. It is above all, to participate in the symbolic celebration of the shared repast."

~ Ginette Olivesi-Lorenzi, La Cuisine Mentonnaise

Savoring Tuscany : Recipes and Reflections on Tuscan Cooking

Savoring Tuscany : Recipes and Reflections on Tuscan Cooking (The Savoring Series)
by Lori De Mori

Part of the Savoring Series, which is one of my favorite series of books about Regional Cuisine, Savoring Tuscany is a beautiful book filled with sumptuous recipes and delectable writing about the cuisine and culture of Tuscany. As with all the books in the series, Savoring Tuscany is put together beautifully and all of the recipes are well written and presented. The recipes that we tested were all superb and the book is an excellent source for fans of Tuscan cuisine.

Under the Tuscan Sun: At Home in ItalyUnder the Tuscan Sun: At Home in Italy
by Frances Mayes
A beautifully written book about life and food in Tuscany, Under the Tuscan Sun is filled with wonderfully evocative vignettes about Tuscan life and Mayes' experiences renovating a Tuscan villa. While more about the renovation experience than brilliant insight into the culture or food of Tuscany, there are plenty of wonderful spots for the foodlover. Many of the recipes do grasp the essence of Tuscany, and the book makes for a great escape, especially in the middle of a cold and dreary winter.

Tuscany, the Beautiful Cookbook : Authentic Recipes from the Provinces of TuscanyTuscany, the Beautiful Cookbook : Authentic Recipes from the Provinces of Tuscany
by Lorenza De'Medici Stucchi
One of the most beautiful books ever written about Tuscany, this book is overflowing with stunning photographs and marvelous recipes. A truly marvelous way to steep yourself in the flavors of Tuscany and really be able to create authentic Tuscan dishes in your own kitchen. A must-own for anyone who loves Tuscany or Tuscan cuisine.

The Tuscan Year : Life and Food in an Italian ValleyThe Tuscan Year : Life and Food in an Italian Valley
by Elizabeth Romer
One of the most fantastic books about Tuscan cuisine and culture, Elizabeth Romer's excellent story of a year in Tuscany progresses with wonderful detail about each and every season. She shares stories, flavors, information, personalities, and great recipes that really reflect the flavor of Tuscany the whole year round. This is truly a classic in the selection of books about Tuscany and avoids many of the trendy food literature "sameness" of some of the newer books about Tuscany. The timeless nature of the tales and the recipes make it an excellent addition to any collection about Tuscany, or the perfect book to start a collection with.

Tastes of Tuscany : Treasured Family Recipes and Vignettes from the Heartland of ItalyTastes of Tuscany : Treasured Family Recipes and Vignettes from the Heartland of Italy
by Liana Giovannini Figone
This marvelous cookbook is a true glimpse into the food and culture of Tuscany. It reads just like a notebook compiled by a cherished family member and is filled with wonderful recipes, tips, stories, photos, family vignettes, herbal lore, old fashioned sayings, and tons of love. The recipes are simple, but fantastic - Oysters with Italian Ham and Chives, Fried Bread with Cheese Sauce, Peanut Brittle Cake, Stuffed Seafood Cannelloni, "Knock on Wood" Potato Dumplings, Snapper with Italian Bacon, Capers, and Lemon, Prawns with Marsala, Rustic Style Spaghetti Sauce, and many more wonderful dishes.
